The estate
A house, a church, a cellar, an olive mill, and the hillside they stand on.

Where it is
San Vincenti is a hamlet of barely a handful of residents, set at 520 metres between the sources of the Ambra and the Ambrella streams, on the flank of Monte Luco.
It is a frazione of Gaiole in Chianti, in the province of Siena. Gaiole is one of the historic communes of Chianti Classico, alongside Radda, Castellina, Greve in Chianti and Castelnuovo Berardenga — the country marked by the black rooster.
The De Maeseneire family
La Canonica di San Vincenti is the work of a father and a son, Patrick and Diederich De Maeseneire. Over the years they have built the estate up to seven hectares in the hills of Chianti Classico — a Belgian family, an Italian place, and both halves showing in the way it is run.
What they are after is a wine that tastes of where it stands. In practice that means one grape at a time, each given its own ground and its own bottle: Sangiovese above all, and a Cabernet Franc that has become the estate’s own speciality. Diederich trained for the work.
What is here
Five places make up the estate. Each has its own page.
